USING HASHTAGS IN YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS
Why use hashtags?
Using hashtags in your social media posts are great! They can help get your brand or business in front of people who may not be following you. This is because they are viewing content under that hashtag.
How you should use your hashtags?
This varies from platform to platform. As a general rule, we would advise the following…
- Twitter 2-3 hashtags are optimal and look better at the end of the post.
- Instagram You can add up to 30 hashtags either in the main text or in the first comment. If using in the main text, it looks better to have a gap of 4-5-line spaces between your text and hashtags.
- Facebook Hashtags haven’t really taken off in a big way, and we recommend using them only for big events that your brand can relate to.
- LinkedIn Hashtags have become more popular on this platform, and there is the facility to follow a certain number. These tend to be more for business, but there are plenty of business-related days each month so why not give them a try!
USING OUR CONTENT CALENDAR
By using our social media content calendar you will be able to plan content around particular awareness or celebration days. There may be the opportunity to get involved in movements that last a week or even for the entire month so be sure to plan lots of relevant content and use the hashtags surrounding that content. If you would like to know more about which content to use across your platforms take a read of our blog here… Content Ideas for your Social Media Platforms
Check on the Competition
By searching under the hashtags, you will also be able to see what other businesses are doing with their content and also what your key audience is saying. What is working for them, and what isn’t. How can you improve on that?
Keep it relevant
There is nothing more spammy than jumping on a hashtag or posting when there is no relevance to your brand or business – so don’t do it!
